Kygo Releases ‘Higher Love’ with Whitney Houston

It’s been seven years since world-renowned, legendary singer Whitney Houston has passed, her presence and vocals resonating vividly with music lovers all over the world. She left behind a legacy unlike any other, but there haven’t been any posthumous releases, until now. This new collaboration with Kygo marks a beginning of what might possibly promise more unreleased music that Houston crafted so wonderfully. For now, Kygo presents us with “Higher Love,” a Houston cover of Steve Winwood’s 1986 hit.

The track takes a 90’s pop style with Houston’s smooth vocals and interweaves that with the recognizable upbeat horns of Kygo’s sound. The mash-up of the two styles creates something so familiar, yet so diverse and intriguing at the same time. It represents Houston’s iconic brilliance while adding an electronic twist for a new generation. Get ready to bring a higher love for both Houston and Kygo. Listen below.

Houston first performed the song in 1990 during her Feels So Right Tour in Japan and intended to release it on her third album I’m Your Baby Tonight. But her powerful version was never officially released. In a press release Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, said, “We knew Kygo would be the right producer to enhance Whitney’s powerful vocal performance on ‘Higher Love’ to the standards and expectations that Whitney’s fans have recognized for over three decades.” We couldn’t be happier for this amazing step in Kygo’s career and welcome this new track with warm, open arms.
