YetepSince founding Mad Decent in 2005, Diplo has built a career most will only dream of. Between a never ending-release schedule, production credits on all the hottest hits, multiple side projects, and a huge social media presence, few can say they work harder.
Earlier this year, Diplo ditched his open-format style, focusing his efforts on the timeless dance music genre of house music, with an all-house EP titled Higher Ground. Now he’s taking it one step further, launching a house music label by the same name to showcase both established and up-and-coming talent.
“House is where it all came from. Everything we know and love as dance music today started with the masters in Chicago and Detroit almost forty years ago,” Diplo saysof the new venture. “The genre has always been incredibly important to me, and Higher Ground is our homage to the legends and opportunity to champion new sounds and artists from around the world pushing the genre forward.”
The label will release everything from tech-house to deep/melodic house, lo-fi to Afro-infused house, and everything in between. The first Higher Ground release is a double-single by Brooklyn-based house duo Walker & Royce titled “Rave Grave,” out September 4th.
Higher Ground is taking over Brooklyn Mirage for a night of house music curated by Mad Decent on September 22nd. Lineup announcing soon. Tickets available HERE.
