The MVP of EDM, A-Trak, is slowing us down during the hype of the new year with his latest release “What Can I Do.” This massive retro House collaboration with up and coming Loods is a dangerously fluid track that sends you for a loop. Listening to it in any atmosphere zones you out on another level in a way that only House music can. These two will have you playing it on repeat as the outer space synths matched with the classic bass lines and smooth vocals seem to slow everything down. Out now on A-Trak’s very own, Fools Gold, this 5-minute track is a rhythmic journey you never want to end.
If you don’t know already, one of the most recognized DJs around is A-Trak and his storied career is full of some juicy highlights. From his remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll” marking an entire generation’s introduction to EDM to his label aiding in the cultivation of Kid Cudi, Danny Brown, and Flosstradamus as artists, there are no bounds to A-Trak’s talent. Born Alain Macklovitch he’s spent years crafting his art, his label, and his presence in the scene that it’s impossible not to recognize him for the producer he is. He paved the way for a new wave of independent producers and helped make North America the electronic scene it is today all while dishing out some groovy hits we all love and listen to.
This EDM veteran collaborated with fresh-in-the-scene Loods and man are we happy he did. Australian producer Elliot Struck is an energetic, bona fide house guru. His vibe falls under the classic 90s house with some French and hip-hop touch. In an interview he dubbed his style “90s Parisian Hip-House” and after listening to his sound, you would agree. He recently moved to London where since he’s toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and his Australian home. His best friend from childhood runs a label called Steel City Discs Label which houses a majority of Loods’ work. Keep an eye on this one because his hip-house is taking over the world one club at a time.
A-Trak will be closing out 2019 at SnowGlobe and a New Years’ Eve show in Houston. So “What Can [We] Do,” but keep listening to House!
