YetepLong time friend of Daft Punk, DJ Falcon, aka Stéphane Quême, doesn’t believe that his home country, France, offered much to music prior to the rise of electronic sound.
“Daft Punk’s success with their first album turned a lot of attention to French producers, the French scene,” DJ Falcon explains, who collaborated with the French robots on their last track ‘Contact’.
Despite the reported strong lack of samples on Daft Punk’s upcoming album, Random Access Memories, Falcon doesn’t see the issue when it comes to making the crowd feel a certain way.
“There’s a of of discussion about sampling…but for me, I don’t want to get into that, because it’s all about the emotion you get and when you’re looking for a sample,” he says excitedly, “the moment when you get it is like ‘BAM!’.”

Watching them create and hearing their music for over the past decade, DJ Falcon is an expert on Daft Punk styles, despite their variety of sounds in each album.
“There was never only one direction, one style. You could feel a lot of different influences,” he says. “Seeing the way the way they create stuff (and though they don’t do very many behind the scenes interviews), I think all people can feel that, that it’s more than just music.”
Random Access Memories releases May 21, but is available for pre-order on iTunes now.
