Yetep“Filthy tune” is a saying that those in the United States will want to get used to hearing. UK Drum & Bass culture is becoming increasingly prevalent due to TikTok and countless popular artists incorporating DnB tracks into their DJ sets. It doesn’t matter anymore who you are seeing, the chances that they play at least one DnB tune are higher than ever.
TikTok has the power to start careers and has also been a huge factor in controlling the narrative of what is popular. Thanks to frequent viral videos of sweaty-packed venues, or artists in their rooms creating a beat on a pad controller, the popularity of DnB has been pushed to new heights in the United States. We will have to wait and see if the hype will stick; but if one thing is clear, DnB is slowly becoming a mainstream force within the American EDM scene, and you will be hearing more of it.
Whether you’re a fan of the genre or not, the atmosphere that comes along with the DnB culture is infectious. The fast BPM mixed with the wonky bass makes it almost impossible not to jump and smile, maybe even scream. If that’s not your taste, the melodic approach of liquid DnB mixed with trance-like vocals are perfect for late night drives. There are countless DnB sub-genres to choose from, and with how versatile the genre is, it is shocking that it hasn’t been more prominent in the states until recently.
Artists spanning numerous different genres were featured at Decadence Arizona over NYE weekend, and many of them incorporated a handful of drum & bass songs into their sets. If you haven’t done so already, now is the perfect time to get accustomed to this genre that is starting to make its mark within the United States.
