YetepThere’s been a substantial amount of crossover between EDM and other forms of entertainment in recent years. You can hear electronic beats in commercials, at sporting events, and now as movie theme songs.
Don Diablo just released a new track, “Echoes”, that serves as the theme song for the upcoming movie Kill Switch — a sci-fi thriller about a military experiment gone wrong and a fight to save the planet. It’s set in Diablo’s hometown of Amsterdam so he was eager to take on the project. He said,
“When I was approached to make the theme song for the first ever sci-fi film set in my hometown Amsterdam, I immediately said yes. The project had been over six years in the making so I wanted to do it justice and also saw this as an opportunity to show another, more personal, side of myself. After several discussions with director Tim Smit about the film I locked myself in the studio for several days in a row and eventually walked out with “Echoes”.
Don Diablo – Echoes | Theme Song from Kill Switch
The track and accompanying music video proceed to keep the sci-fi vibe. “Echoes” deviates features reverberating vocals, mysterious bursts of rumbling bass, and calming violins. The video features official clips from the movie and Don Diablo starring in movie-inspired scenes, as the planet is facing imminent destruction. Kill Switch, directed by Tim Smit and starring Dan Stevens, Berenice Marlohe and Tygo Gernandt is set to release on June 17th. “Echoes” is also slated to be released on his album in the future, but for now he’s focused on pushing the record alongside the film.
