Hex Cougar Delivers a ‘Sacrifice’ with Ruby Red

The dark and twisty kitty of explorative bass music is back with a blood-red “Sacrifice.” Enlisting the help of duo Ruby Red, the three conjured up a piece that’s equal parts beautiful, dramatic, and dark.

For years, Hex Cougar has been changing the game with the most genre-fluid releases to date. He started as a hip-hop homage to his idol Lex Lugar, transforming into a dark techno persona, then a future bass icon which all culminated into the disturbingly brilliant sound he produces today. Hailing from Los Angeles, Hex Cougar has remixed for the likes of RL Grime, Illenium, KRANE, and more while garnering support from Skrillex, Porter Robinson, and Jauz for his diversified soundscape. With a mix of future, trap, bass and a tease of DnB, there are no bounds to what this producer can cook up for our eager ears. Earlier this year he dropped “Hourglass” with AWAY and josh pan, the first release to an upcoming EP. Now, he presents “Sacrifice” as we patiently wait for the final project said to be coming January 2020. His latest track is out now on V1, listen below.

This track howls with the intricacies of tormented souls while echoing something like hope. It begins with an eerie omen that drips with something witching but soon places well-sequenced melodies alongside soothing vocals. The track builds to an anthemic drop that adds texture to an already melodic ballad.

Hex Cougar is gearing up for his first headlining shows called “Under the Light Of A Dying Moon.” His next project is bound to be ruthless and we can only hope he finds his way to AZ to produce it live.
