Make Your Mark: Dim Mak Records Turns 20

Who would have thought that a record label started in a dorm room would end up being one of the largest EDM record labels in the world? Steve Aoki had that vision, but even with his initial start of Dim Mak records this label was not initially electronic music. In fact, it was more for indie dance bands.

The first major release was in 2001 with the EP, “Pretty Girls Make Graves.” After relocating to Los Angeles and becoming a subsidiary of Atlantic Records in 2002, the real fun began in 2009, when Dim Mak Records released the anthem in the EDM world, “Warp” by Bloody Beatroots feat. Steve Aoki. Dim Mak then secured their spot as one of the best EDM record labels, as well as Steve Aoki securing his spot in his own solo career.

Dim Mak skyrocketed through the electronic world since 2009. Artists on this label are nothing short than incredible like The Chainsmokers, Deorro, Borgore, Keys N’ Krates, and so many more. Dim Mak also has Dim Mak-sponsored stages at various events hosted by Hard and Insomniac events.

20 years later and this label is still going strong! Thankfully, Arizona has the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary tomorrow at Talking Stick Resort tomorrow at 11 am! Steve Aoki, the founder, will obviously be headlining with his friends like Caked Up, Max Styler, Dirtyphonics, and a few more! Don’t miss this #dimmak20th event!
