David Katzenberg Set to Direct Diplo Produced 20th Century Fox Film

It didn’t take long for Hollywood to come knocking on dance music’s door. Earlier this year, it was reported that Diplo was the executive producer of the next “8 Mile” meets “Project X” dance music festival movie.

The Wrap reported that the untitled movie, which is now in pre-production, will be directed by David Katzenberg. Katzenberg was the mind behind MTV shows like “Awkward” and “The Hard Times of RJ Berger”. 20th Century Fox gave the greenlight for the script written by Adam Weinstock and Andy Jones.

It will be interesting to see how Diplo will help represent a community of music festival fans in this project. Based on various interviews made about the film, it seems producers are leaning toward making a film representative of the community that music festivals fans can easily relate to. A projected release date has not been set.
