Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke Collab on ‘It’s Time’

Who could forget Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke’s “Turbulence?” The year was 2011, and the electronic music market in North America was blossoming like never before. The duo’s first collaboration featured a vocal from Lil John and was released on both artists’ world-renowned record labels, Mixmash and Dim Mak. As both have created forward-thinking tracks throughout their careers, solidifying themselves as mainstays in the electronic music scene, it was only a matter of time until the legendary duo would meet again.

As a follow up to the iconic record, the two cleverly revived the rave aesthetic into a more complex, thematic context.  Featuring the hype vocals of Bruce Buffer, the iconic announcer of UFC, the new release focuses on a playful mixed-martial arts theme that is designed to get a crowd’s energy raising.  Clocking in at 140 beats per minute, a tempo found more commonly in bass music, this electro house tune is destined to smash any dance floor that it encounters.  Despite a long history of friendship between the two superstar DJs, the “It’s Time” music video features a fight in the ring between Steve and Luke.  Complete with training from UFC Hall of Fame star Ken Shamrock for Aoki and Laidback Luke showing off his authentic Kung Fu skill set, “It’s Time” embraces the fight theme in every aspect, making the record destined to compete with its predecessor.
