YetepJust a year ago, Preston Charles, who goes by the stage name SubDocta, exploded onto the scene with his widely successful single, “2009 Was Tight.” He quickly gained support from heavy hitters like Bassnectar, who were drawn to his idiosyncratic style of dubstep, that has come to be known as the “West Coast Wobble.” Within the past year, his music has been released on Borgore’s new label imprint, Fresh Blood, as well as SubCarbon. He has supported Ganja White Night on a number of sold-out shows and has supported both Riot Ten on his 2018 “Hype Or Die” Tour and Dirt Monkey on his 2018 “Rise Of The Octopeel” Tour. If you can’t already tell, this week’s DJ to Watch is SubDocta and it’s clear this one is going places.
Since emerging onto the scene only a year ago, SubDocta has played at an impressive number of festivals in North America, including Valhalla, Big Dub Festival, Lucidity, StillDream, The Untz, Enchated Forest, Infrasound, and Bass Camp, to name a few.
Earlier this month, SubDocta released his debut West Coast Wobble EP, containing four funky bass tracks, two of which are collaborations with Esseks and Dirt Monkey. With no signs of slowing down, and a growing fanbase, SubDocta is one DJ you’ll want to keep your eye on.
Catch SubDocta as he supports Dirt Monkey on his Rise of the Octopeel Tour at Aura Nightclub on Saturday, November 24. You can purchase tickets here.
