YetepBritish vocalist Aluna Francis first rose to stardom as one-half of the renowned electronic duo AlunaGeorge. Now performing under the mononym Aluna, the avant-garde musician has spent the last two years discovering and redefining her sound as a solo artist. As she explored the history of dance music, she found herself gravitating towards Detroit native and industry superstar Marc Kinchen (better known as MK), ultimately leading to a powerful collaboration.
The result of the two creative forces colliding is a glamorous house track titled “Kiss It Better.” MK taps into his techno roots with a rolling bassline and crispy hi-hats that underpin the vibrant track, while Aluna ventures into the side of dance-pop, delivering glowing vocals that narrate a burning desire for a lover. Check it out below!
In a candid statement about the collaboration, Aluna revealed, “During my pandemic Twitch era where I was DJing from my living room every week, I started to get to know who the pioneers of dance music were and who was making the freshest stuff now. MK is both of those things so naturally I wanted to work with him. Turns out we were both looking for each other so when we finally got into the studio it felt like something that was a long time coming. ‘Kiss It Better’ is a contrast of MK’s raw techno roots and my yearning story of lovers helping each other through those hard times we’ve all been through.”
Aluna will be performing at Dusk Music Festival, held in Tucson from November 11th-12th. For tickets, click here.
