You may have seen him opening for acts like Shiba San or Justin Martin or on a recent RB Deep lineup. I’m talking of course about Sean Watson, the AZ native who has become a staple in the local House scene and is this week’s DJ to Watch.
Watson was born in Oakland, California but his family moved to Phoenix when he was six months old, so he considers himself a native of the valley. He got his feet wet in music as a guitar player in a local punk band. He quickly discovered the EDM scene and fell in love with the sound and the culture at various festivals in Phoenix and L.A. After spending some time practicing his new passion, he was invited to DJ at a local Chinese restaurant, which led to a 944 Magazine interview and from there, his career in electronic dance music took off.
Watson has also put in some work behind the scenes for local events like the annual Costume Ball and the New Year’s Eve Block Party at Crescent Ballroom. He’s also helped throw weekly dance parties in the valley. Now he runs BFF (Big Fun Fridays) at Bar Smith, which is why you see him there almost every weekend opening for some well-known House acts that make their way through town. He’s also become a regular on the Phoenix festival circuit. In fact, he was on the RB Deep stage for both Goldrush and Phoenix Lights just this past year.

Watson has contributed significantly to what the Phoenix scene is today, while simultaneously growing his craft. With talent that shines through in his live sets and in his recent original production, Sean Watson is an artist who is truly going places.
Sean Watson will be in his element as he takes the stage next weekend alongside the likes of Duke Dumont, Autograf, Lane 8, and more at the first-ever Origins festival. Grab 2 passes for $110 before prices increase next Monday, November 12. See you all there!
