YetepArtists spend their whole career trying to become half as popular as Swedish DJ and producer Alesso. His calculated and precise progressive big-room house music has gained Alesso a massive cult-like following of dedicated fans all over the globe. The 27-year-old has been a forefront leader in the mainstream electronic dance music movement and will be remembered as such. Although Alesso didn’t begin to be recognized as the legend he is today until around 2014, he’s been producing killer, high energy tracks for years.
For this week’s Spin it Back Saturday, we are looking at one of Alesso’s finest original tracks, “Clash.”
“Clash” dropped in 2012 and listening to it today is like taking a trip in a time machine. Everything about “Clash” is nostalgic and amusing. The 90’s-esque video game synths feel like you’re stepping into a retro Nintendo game. The big-room progressive sound is unusual for what would be considered house music by today’s standards but are still exciting and extremely danceable. Everything about “Clash” is experimental and fun, reminding listeners of a time when electronic music was trying to find its place in the world.
Alesso is stopping by Rawhide alongside Kaivon, Slander, and Wuki for Crush’s 10 year anniversary on February 15th and 16th. Feel the love and grab tickets here.
