YetepKompany has been merging riddim and dubstep since his early days as a producer. Combining these two bass-heavy subgenres is no easy task, but the LA-based producer makes it seem effortless in his newest single, “Movement.” The song, released earlier this month on Never Say Die Records, further confirms Kompany’s skill at producing some of the heaviest drops in dubstep today.
With a drop that falls somewhere between dubstep and somewhere between riddim, “Movement” is the perfect song for those addicted to the bass. There is never a time on the track where the energy dies and the consistent “Movement” never rests. Each new bass is heavier than the previous resulting in the perfect, high-powered dubstep song that is sure to get everyone headbanging.
Kompany, who has collaborated with other dubstep legends such as Badklaat, Wooli, TYNAN, and G-REX, is known for his work in sound design. Before this, Kompany was a drummer, which has helped him keep flow and rhythm even when the bass seems to dominate the track. As made evident in tracks such as “Movement”, his sound design is truly unique and one of the many reasons why his music is so well-loved.
