YetepMark Farina has been pioneering house music since he started DJing in the late 80s. A certified trailblazer, Farina has a heavy-duty list of accomplishments from his last three decades around the sun as a producer, including a position as head honcho at his record label, Great Lakes Audio Recordings. In the 90s, Farina’s groovy fusion of midtempo, jazz, and house music concocted a new genre called “mushroom jazz.” Since then, Mark Farina hasn’t slowed down once, surging forward with constant new ideas and sounds for house music. His deep jazzy sound never goes out of style; listen to his Stereo Bar live set below for this week’s RB Deep in the Mix and you’ll understand.
Mark Farina has a vision, and to accomplish it he states, “I look at my job as a ‘modern-day traveling minstrel’ bringing new music to as many places as I can and exposing audiences to obscure records that otherwise might go hidden.” Recorded live at Stereo Bar in Montreal, Canada on August 24th, 2019 Mark Farina brought the heat to an already sweltering summer during one of his unforgettable All Night Long sessions. This 2-hour set was chosen by Mark as his favorite part of the night and he effortlessly delivers this sound and vision to his audience.
This “modern-day traveling minstrel” will be playing at Shady Park on November 15th. Get your tickets here.
