Cinco in the City Returns, Joyryde & Deorro to Bring the Fuego

With summer closing in and the weather heating up here in Phoenix, you would think things couldn’t get any hotter. Of course, that was until Cinco In The City was announced to make a comeback this Cinco de Mayo weekend. This year brings us two nights of heat, headlined by Joyryde on Friday, May 5th and Deorro on Saturday May 6th. Relentless Beats is taking over CityScape, located in Downtown Phoenix, for the two-night block party. 

Night 1 

Kicking the weekend off strong, DJ and producer Joyryde will headline night one. Hailing from the UK, Joyryde is well known for some filthy bass house tracks, like “THE BOX” and “I WARE HOUSE.” He has also collabed with many big names in the edm scene, like DJ Snake, Skrillex, NGHTMRE, Tchami, and more. Although mainly producing house music, Joyryde is a man of many talents. He explores and implements many subgenres into his sets, such as dubstep, trap, drum and bass, garage, etc. Joyryde first starting producing music in his early teen years under the name Eskimo, mainly producing trance. 2016 saw Joyryde begin creating the bass house tracks that launched him into the spotlight under his current moniker, Joyryde. You can get a taste of Joyryde’s versatile music ability in his album BRAVE, released back in 2020. Joyryde consistently draws in large energetic crowds and his sets keep the crowd bouncing.

Joyryde is to be accompanied by some fire support artists, including openers Capozzi, Swavé, and Medicine Mike warming up the crowd night one. Medicine Mike is a local Arizona DJ, whose bumping house sets will get the vibes going, day or night, so be there early to catch this local legend. Next up, LA-based DJ, Swavé, will get things hot with his fire latin tech house bangers. His tracks like “Perros” and “Muchas Ganas” mix house with latino beats and vocals that will be bringing the energy. Finally, fast rising house DJ Capozzi will be getting the crowd’s vibes just right before Joyryde. Her unique style has some dark basslines and bouncing bass that has crowds getting down; listen to her latest track, “Pressure,” to get a taste of the energy Capozzi will be bringing to the stage.

Night 2

We are keeping the heat going night two with DJ and producer, Deorro. From LA, Deorro is known worldwide for his high energy big room house music. Deorro has been active in the EDM scene for over a decade now, and with the hard work and success to show for it. The producer rose to fame with tracks like “Five More Hours” and “Perdoname,” just a few of his releases that have topped charts around the world. What is special about Deorro though, is his representation of Mexican and Latino culture in his music. His live sets have been known to mix classic latino songs like “Payaso de Rodeo” by Caballo Dorado and “La Puerta Negra” by Los Tigres del Norte and giving them a classic edm twist. Deorro has even collabed with a variety of latino artists like Elvis Crespo, Los Angeles Azules, Los Tucanes De Tijuana, and more. Deorro actually recently released a remix of “Still” by Mexican singer, Eddie Zuko, giving it a special Deorro house flip. It is nice to see the appreciation and the energy that Deorro’s combination of latino music and edm brings to crowds all around. Deorro will for sure have the crowd going nonstop Saturday night. 

Deorro is also accompanied by some amazing support artists, Tom & Collins, 2Deep, and Cafe Caderas, will be starting night two off. Cafe Caderas is an Arizona local DJ and producer, who mixes a variety of tech, deep, and latin house music. His set will start things off on a groovy tone for night two. Up next, LA-based DJ and producer, 2Deep will take the stage and there is no way the crowd can stay still with 2Deep’s unique style of mixing house, reggaeton, and hints of tribal. He is also the founder of Reggaetonlandia, a festival combining reggaeton and edm. The final openers are house DJ Duo Tom & Collins who will be taking the crowd into some deeper house. Coming from Mexico City, this popular duo has traveled the world, bumping their deep house and tech house tracks, like “Se Va” and “No Me Importa.” Feel the energy and good vibes the duo will bring Saturday night before Deorro hits the stage. 

This is the second year Cinco In The City has taken place. Last year, Noizu and Biscits took over Renaissance Square located in Downtown Phoenix. This year, the event is moving to CityScape, a shopping and entertainment district in the heart of downtown Phoenix. The stage to be set up in the center of surrounding buildings makes it a great intimate outdoor venue with good vibes. You can also check out the surrounding downtown area for food, drinks, and clubs for your pregame and afters.
