YetepIconic bass music producer Alleycvt has had an epic year so far. She has made appearances at EDC, Lollapalooza, and her very own Supersonic Caverns event. This show was held inside Tennessee’s famous cave venue, The Caverns. She is also set to appear at SameSameButDifferent and Dusk Festival in September and November respectively. This year, Alleycvt also released the stand out singles “Strangers” and “Dawn,” an immersive collaboration with MERSIV.
Alleycvt’s newest release, “So Damn Good” came out while I was visiting home in California. The ocean fog and breeze provided a perfect setting to hear the single for the first time. “So Damn Good” begins with slick guitar riffs and a brain massage of contracting bass waves. The riffs and bass take on a low rumble as the drum effects are introduced. “So Damn Good” also brings in a new way to build HYPE: An A-L-L-E-Y-C-V-T chant woven into the beat, effortlessly bouncing off the intensifying drums. This is a first for an Alleycvt release and I hope that she continues to use it in the future. This repeats as the song builds to the first drop. A wonky wonderland full of HEAVY bass, lasers and glistening melodies. Choppy track sections and WOMP effects fill the space between. The track does not let up after the first drop. The drop builds into a heavy and rapid drum beat, with Alleycvt’s vocals echoing throughout. We are immediately welcomed into the second drop with revving bass and warping instrumentals. This drop appears to be influenced by old school Doctor P wobbles. This style is blended with Alleycvt’s patented stardust sounds and bass whooshes.
The conclusion of the next drop swings back to the verse and prominent riffs, before fading out slightly. The drums build up last time over slowed down vocals and instrumentals, launching us into the stratosphere. “So Damn Good” ends with multiple layers and tones of wubs. Ending with glitchy, sputtering basslines and riffs.
“I FEEL SO DAMN GOOD RIGHT NOW!!”
