SIDEPIECE & Westend Celebrate Feminine Energy on New House Track, ‘Take Your Places’

New York-based producer Westend and dynamic duo SIDEPIECE (made up of Party Favor and Nitti Gritti) are stars in their own right. Westend’s melodic House grooves and SIDEPIECE’s serious party energy are epic by themselves, but what happens when these forces collide??

The result is “Take Your Places,” a welcoming call to action for all the women in the club. Capturing the vibey energy of a House music dance floor and encouraging “all my ladies (to) take your places.”

This release also features subtle drums, rapid fire lasers, and progressive grooves. The crunchy basslines in the drops bob and weave through the hi-hats, as sound waves radiate in and out. These lasers are especially strong around the minute and a half mark, giving shuffling dancers plenty to work with. Digital tapping bounces off of thick kick drums, which occasionally break off into hi-hats and cymbals. This creates a complex drum profile that effortlessly jumps from full-bodied, to soft and melodic. “Take Your Places” also features extended transitions that remind me of the famous THX Deep Note sound intro (if you know, you know!) These elements combine to create a standout house track that pushes the norms of the genre, while remaining true to the styles of the collaborators. The pink, stiletto accented cover art further captures the feminine energy that this track embraces and celebrates.
