YetepThis weekend is looking good for RB featuring our first ever Encounters DJ Competition for Phoenix Lights, Manufacturted Superstars, and Sharam.
3/9 – Phoenix Lights First Encounters DJ Competition @ Monarch
On Thursday at the Monarch, Contestants will be spinning their hearts out for an opening slot at Phoenix Lights warming up the decks for names such as Alesso, Above and Beyond and Zeds Dead. Hence the name ‘encounters’, the contest will only welcome dj’s who have not played any 2016 Relentless Beats show as support to a headliner.
Lots of submissions were received, and carefully chosen to perform are [Alaska], Doc Holliday, Grund, GUiLTY, jeff., Lephan & Kevek, Mox Fulder, Myo & Sky, Social, Underdown, Cubozoa, and Frank Terry. Hit up the Monarch on Thursday to catch some awesome local talent battling for a slot on the Phoenix Lights Festival lineup!
3/10 – Manufactured Superstars @ Gypsy Bar
On Friday at Gypsy Bar, the Manufatured Superstars will be making an appearance. Made up of Brad Roulier and Shawn Sabo, these guys are the co-founders of revolutionary digital music retailer, Beatport.com. As DJs, their performance style is as high-energy, accessible and fun as it is technically challenging. Although their sets have been described as “mash-up” or “open-format”, what they really do is create a non-stop tornado of happiness when they spin.
Wrapping things up on Saturday, Sharam will be hitting the Monarch’s upstairs venue, Scarlet, in honor of RBdeep. Sharam is an Iranian-American International progressive house DJ and producer, forming one half of the Grammy award-winning DJ/production duo, Deep Dish. Sharam is characterized by a distinct style compared to his partner Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia who produces minimal house. Sharam has performed as Deep Dish featuring Sharam, when he plays as the different half of the distinguished Deep Dish sound.
Aside from his DJ/production duties, Sharam stays busy as co-owner, along with Ali, of Deep Dish Records, Yoshitoshi Recordings, and Shinichi Recordings. Collectively, the three labels are known for carrying some of the very best dance music in the world
