MixMag Launches Greatest Dance Track Poll

MixMag is asking what could be the most controversial question in all of EDM: What is the Greatest Dance Track of all time? In the In the mood for some 90s Daft Punk? What about some Fatboy Slim? Or maybe some ‘Internet Friends’ will get that party going. Either way, the genre’s most memorable tracks are all on there and this is the first large-scale attempt at compiling a list of the EDM’s best.

With songs dating back to 1982, MixMag poll will allow the people to vote for all their favorite tracks, including ones not even listed. Much like the Top 100 DJ Poll, the vote is entirely based on submissions. MixMag editors already added a shortlist of 300 timeless tracks to help out the voters. They also will allow voters to vote for a song not listed in their charts.

Clicking on a song’s title brings up a YouTube video of the song to jog voters’ memories of a track that could be as old as 30 years. Whatever the winning tracks turn out to be, it’s fun to peruse through dance music history and bring back memories of EDM’s biggest names.

The poll itself doesn’t reveal who’s leading, and no artist has indicated pulling ahead. Current heavy hitters like Afrojack, Avicii, Benny Benassi, Skrillex, and Tiësto among others are on there alongside old favorites like The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Moby, and Frankie Knuckles.

The poll will close on December 21, 2012 and the winner will be announced on January 17, 2013 in their February issue.

Voters will get a 20% discount from Beatport to purchase any of the hits by using a MixMag code on the poll page.

So get out and vote! The song might have been a parent’s favorite or this year’s biggest tune. More info at Greatest Dance Track.
