A big moment for electronic music this one is. As the genre creeps slowly into the mainstream media spotlight, audiences, and now film producers, are beginning to recognize all of the talent that the growing genre possesses. Following acts like Bono, Madonna, Jack White, and most recently, Adele, Sam Smith has been tapped to perform the latest Bond theme song outing entitled “Writing’s on the Wall”.
The new track will appear in front of the latest 007 film, Spectre, which is set to be the final Bond film featuring Daniel Craig in the titular role. Having been on the short list of acts to create this new theme for a number of months now, Radiohead was another popular prediction, Smith teased this news earlier in the week with a tweet featuring a ring from the film with the Spectre logo embedded on it.

“This is one of the highlights of my career,” said Smith. “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line-up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.” Having wrote the song in a record 20 minutes, Smith hopes that “you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
In addition, frequent Sam Smith collaboration duo, Disclosure, who worked with the Brit on “Latch” and “Omen”, will be aiding the track with their superb production skills. Although, not the lead artist on the track, the brotherly duo are making their mark by contributing their electronic music capabilities and setting a precedent for where this genre is bound to go. “Writing’s on the Wall” is set to release on September 25th, the same day as Disclosure’s much anticipated sophomore album, Caracal.
