YetepBased out of Washington D.C., Austeria is an incredible rising star that is gradually building her brand within the larger EDM community. Austeria is cut from a musical cloth similar to other all-star producers, such as Zingara, Steller, and Level Up, collaborating with Zingara and Level Up on various tracks and projects. Her music is dark, ethereal, and WUBBY, while effortlessly blending various genres of EDM together to create her own sound.
“Metamorphosis” is a perfect example of this duality in sound. The song begins with a heavenly, harmonious introduction filled with “You can’t stop me now” vocal effects and harp-like production. Drums and percussion gradually build behind these vocal effects, further feeding our sense of anticipation. “Is it my wish to be born anew?” inquires Austeria around the one-minute mark. This inquiry descends into a thick, bassy drop that lumbers about in a menacing manner. Majestic harmonies are perfectly layered with the heavy bass and percussion. Austeria then slows things down a bit with an effective bridge that leads us into the second drop. This second drop is one of the highlights of the song for me, and the reason I keep returning to this song daily. The “You can’t stop me now” vocal effects are expanded out, including the new lines “No you can’t” and “I will blow your mind.” The vocals sound more akin to something out of an R&B song than one belonging to the EDM genre, but this works on EVERY level. They add a level of soul and harmony to this song that is hard to replicate. I find myself involuntarily raising my hands to the sky while screaming “No you can’t” at the top of my lungs. Great job, Austeria!
“Tippy,” A release through Wubaholics, is incredibly wonky and a bit silly, in the best way possible. The psychedelic art depicted on the cover of the single features an iridescent teacup set in a portal of waves or TV static, depending on your perception. This tells you everything that you need to know about the journey that you are in for. The song is a mid-tempo masterpiece and features humorous lines such as “I am starting to get a little tippy in my teacup” and “I’m cool with your mystical journey, or whatever.” “Tippy” also features extremely slow clap and drum effects in the background that add to its wonky nature. I assure that you will not be disappointed.
Austeria is currently scheduled to appear on selected dates of Zingara’s Code of Dreams Tour, which you will not want to miss. Stay tuned for more tour updates.
