YetepColorado-based DJ and producer Mike Munnelly, a.k.a Space Wizard, has completely taken over the grassroots bass scene since emerging in 2016. By blending together the experimental sounds of both new and old styles of bass music, Space Wizard has created a mind-bending sound design that has completely altered the way many of us perceive dubstep.

Originally born in Philadelphia, but mostly raised in Texas, Space Wizard spent most of his childhood playing hockey up until an injury that happened just before college. While healing from the injury (which he now says he’s happy that happened) he found himself completely immersed in the realm of dubstep and riddim. The beginning of his official start to his musical journey happened back in 2016 when Munnelly started releasing tracks under his first alias, n0body_cares. N0body_cares was mostly centered around Lo-Fi “sad boi” music. Soon after creating his first dubstep track, Space Wizard was born. Space Wizard’s individualistic style quickly helped him gain recognition from trailblazers like Liquid Stranger, ATliens, Subtronics, Sullivan King, and many more.
Space Wizard’s outrageously creative discography includes some of his recent hits like “Brutality”, “Cuckoo”, “Prometheus”, and more. Back in 2020, many of his releases found a home at Subsidia but since he’s released tracks on Subtronics’ Cyclops Recordings and of course, Waakan.
His deep, drippy, and wonky dubstep sound makes for an out-of-body-like experience during his stage sets. In 2019, Space Wizard played a monumental set at the first-ever Waakan Music Festival where he soon became a fan favorite. During 2020, Space Wizard found himself as direct support for DMVU and TVBOO for their Eat my Sass Tour while simultaneously headlining his own shows across the country. In 2021, he played a legendary b2b with Guppi at Subtronics’ sold-out Cyclops Rocks while continuing to tour. This year he announced and just finished his first headline tour, The Space Odyssey Tour, which was actually named after one of his favorite movies. He also played some major sets at Electric Zoo, North Coast, and Bass Canyon. This next year Space Wizard will also be supporting ATliens Space Cathedral Tour.
Before closing out what has been a major year in his career, Space Wizard will be bringing some of his magic to this year’s Decadence Arizona at the Phoenix Raceway on December 30th-31st. Space Wizard will be alongside other dedicated artists like Subtronics, Kayzo, Zeds Dead, and more. Get more information and grab your tickets here!
