Relentless Beats

FOX Set to Debut Inaugural “Electronic Music Awards & Foundation” Show Proving Dance Music’s Growing Prominence

For film there’s the Oscars. For video games there’s the VGA’s. For TV there’s the Emmy’s. And for music there’s the Grammy’s. Media has always had a means for showing recognition to it’s different extremities, no matter how much debate it may or may not incite within the public sphere. For music, such a wide spectrum of content, the Grammy’s have many categories to cater to all types of genres, methods, and more. However, as we have reported on previously, dance music has always had a difficult time making it into the limelight at an awards ceremony so vast as the Grammy’s are. For all of us out there wishing this wasn’t the case, FOX has an answer.

The announcement came on January 28 that FOX will play host to the first ever electronic music awards ceremony which will air on April 23, 2016. FOX has teamed with LA-based production company TV4 Entertainment and EDM legend, Paul Oakenfold, to bring this massive announcement to us all.

Announcing the Electronic Music Awards & Foundation

EMAF (Electronic Music Awards & Foundation) will be filmed at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, CA and will feature the industry’s leading artists, business executives, creative talents, and up-and-comers. The show will also include red carpet coverage, interviews with the attending creatives, and live performances from the world’s biggest artists.

Many are thrilled for this news, but none more so than executive producer, Oakenfold, who is “thrilled to be a part of an awards show that finally both recognizes and celebrates, on a primetime platform, one of the biggest music genres in the world today.”

Voting opens on February 15, 2016.
